how to get rid of brassy hair at home

Today I’m sharing how to get rid of brassy hair easily and cheap at home.

I’ve been wanting to get blonder hair for quite a while, but it took me a long time to finally get the courage to do it. I’ve never had my hair dyed before this, so it was quite a big change for me. I decided to get a balayage and I think it turned out lovely, I’m really pleased with it.

However, I had the brilliant (*NOT*) idea to get this done right before our beach vacation. What I didn’t know beforehand is that the sun and sea water kinda make dyed blonde hair appear brassy. So when we came back from vacation, I wasn’t that happy with my colour and I decided to look for products I could use at home to fix that.

I stumbled upon plenty of good reviews about the Fanola No Yellow Shampoo and decided to give it a try since it wasn’t really that expensive either.

I have to say that it’s definitely improved the colour of my hair A LOT. I noticed a difference from the first use.

The way I use it is: I lather it up like a regular shampoo, leave it in for 5-10 minutes, rinse and then wash my hair with a regular shampoo. It honestly does wonders to brassy hair. I don’t have to use it every single wash, I would say I use it every 2-3 washes. I would highly recommend this (btw, this is not a sponsored post).

I tried taking some snaps of the before and after using this shampoo, so I hope you can kinda tell how it’s worked for me.

biolage raw color care shampoo and conditioner for blonde hair

As far as hair care for my blonde hair, my hairstylist recommended this range: the Biolage RAW Color Care shampoo and conditioner. Love them both! I’m not sure how much they help with keeping hair not brassy, since obviously I had that problem, but I do love the way they make my hair feel.

macadamia deep repair masque and loreal mythic oil haircare

Finally, I love to use this hair mask once in a while and I can definitely tell a difference in how soft my hair feels after using it. It’s called the Macadamia Deep Repair Masque. It’s gorgeous and I think it’s the one product that’s made the biggest difference to the ends of my hair.

The LÓreal Mythic Oil is a beautiful leave-in hair oil that helps make your hair look shiny and nourished. I usually use this after I style my hair (which you can see how I do that in this video if you’re interested). I normally curl my hair, spray it nicely, let the curls cool off and then I rub the oil between my hands and use it on the ends of my hair. And I love the result.

That’s about it as far as my hair care goes at the moment. You might also like these beauty posts.

I cannot recommend enough this Fanola No Yellow shampoo. It is a truly easy and cheap way to get rid of brassy hair at home.
