Today we’re talking all about the first trimester of pregnancy. Symptoms, what went on week by week, how I felt, ultrasounds etc.
If you’re new to my blog, I recently started writing more motherhood/pregnancy/baby posts and I’m hoping to turn my blog a lot more into a mommy lifestyle one, since – obviously – that is my life now 🙂
I already had my baby, but I wanted to share with you my first pregnancy experience. I know when I was pregnant I loved reading about other people’s experiences to find things I could relate to, so I figured I could do the same. So if you’re currently pregnant – Congratulations! First trimester experience
To be completely honest, most of the time during the first trimester I was quite riddled with anxiety. I think it’s quite difficult not to be, since you hear a lot of people saying that you shouldn’t announce it yet “just in case something happens” or that you shouldn’t buy any baby items “cause you never know”. And while that’s all true, I think preparing for the worst is actually not going to do you any good. You’re just going to be stressed out and, in case something does happen, it’s not like you’re going to feel better because you were “prepared” for it. So for anyone who’s currently in their first trimester, I say just try to enjoy it as much as you can (if morning sickness lets you). Most likely, everything will turn out perfectly fine!
Aside from my anxiety and the bouts of morning sickness, the first trimester was really lovely. I wasn’t feeling huge yet, my usual clothes still fit me, we got to announce this wonderful news to our loved ones…it’s was quite blissful. For me it still felt a bit unreal at this point, since you don’t really look pregnant yet, you can’t feel the baby kick…nothing has really changed in that sense 🙂
I kept a pregnancy journal throughout my entire pregnancy and I thought it would be nice to share my experiences with you, week by week. These will also include the symptoms that I’ve been having during those weeks. I’ll try to write just a few short sentences for each week – since I don’t wanna make this post too long. Here it goes:
I took a pregnancy test on February the 14th (yes, on Valentine’s Day 🙂 ), after I was a week late and it came back positive. Went to a scan at my OB to have an “official” confirmation of the pregnancy.
Haven’t had any coffee since I found out I was pregnant, but I’m not craving it either. I’m reading all about what I should & shouldn’t eat. Still no morning sickness, thankfully.
My doctor told me my blood pressure is a bit low, but that it’s still in the normal range. My beginning weight is around 46-47 kg, I’m curious to see how much I’ll weigh at the end of the pregnancy.
Those first ultrasounds were nerve-wrecking, but also amazing. We got to hear the baby’s heartbeat this week and it was the best feeling ever! The OB said everything looks perfect so far.
I’ve been VERY tired this week. I took a nap everyday and I went to bed at 9 p.m. Thankfully I work from home, so I can take breaks when I need them.
I took the TORCH test and the results were good. Every test makes me feel really nervous, but I always feel very reassured when they come back with good results. I haven’t thrown up at all, but I do feel very nauseous. It’s hard for me to eat anything because I have no appetite and everything makes me feel sick. I’ve been eating a lot of toast with Philadelphia cheese and tomatoes.
I’m waking up a lot during the night to pee and it’s a bit annoying.
Did the NT scan and it turned out good. We also found out we’re having a BABY BOY! The OB was pretty sure of the gender when she did my ultrasound this week.
We did the Panorama test (for genetic abnormalities) and the results were good. And it also confirmed that we’re having a boy.
